Personal customers who are Hong Kong residents can make an instant Renminbi payment from their Hong Kong dollar / Renminbi account to designated personal accounts at payee's banks in mainland China via Payment Connect with a daily transfer of up to HKD10,000 or equivalent per day. For other situations such as non-Hong Kong residents making a Renminbi payment to mainland China, or the payment amount exceeding the above-mentioned threshold to the maximum of CNY80,000, they must maintain a Renminbi account with us in Hong Kong and have a Renminbi account under the same name in mainland China.
Simply log in to the HSBC HK App, go to 'Pay' and select 'With Payment Connect to mainland China'. Alternatively, log on to HSBC Online Banking and go to 'Pay & transfer' and select 'With Payment Connect to mainland China'.
Additionally, personal customers who are Hong Kong residents can remit up to CNY80,000 per day via telegraphic transfer from their Renminbi account with us in Hong Kong to their Renminbi account under the same name in mainland China. If the remittance amount exceeds the available daily remittance limit, the transaction will be rejected on the transaction date. The daily remittance amount may also be checked by the Renminbi clearing bank.
Simply log in to HSBC HK App, go to 'Pay' and select 'Anywhere globally'. Alternatively, log on to HSBC Online Banking, go to 'Pay & transfer' and select 'Global payments to other accounts'. Please input the English name of the remitting account holder in the "Account Holder's Name". We will automatically use your Chinese name maintained with us as the remitter and beneficiary when effecting the transfer. If you only have your English name on record with us, we will use your English name instead.
If personal customers who are Hong Kong residents need to make remittances to their Renminbi account in mainland China on a regular basis, they can set up a standing instruction to save time and trouble.
Non-Hong Kong residents may need to obtain approval from the relevant Mainland authorities for Renminbi remittance to mainland China. Also, charges may be involved should the outward remittance be rejected by the Mainland authorities or Mainland banks.
